Roses should be brought back to the front of Autumn sales in garden centres says John Lord of John Woods Nurseries - and a new biodegradable pot, complete with rose feed and a Mattocks rose means its easier than ever for gardeners.
The new Mattocks Autumn Rose Range - 60 varieties in biodegradable and recyclable packaging - was launched at Glee and won the Nursery Innovation Award.
Judges described it as a green product that solved the problem of buying potted bare-root roses in autumn, at a good price. John Lord confirmed that retailers will keep the same prices as their spring range - simplifying pricing at both times of the year.
A full-colour liner sells the beauty of the product to the customer. Planting is simple too - just remove the liner, crack the pot and plant it.
John Lord told GTNOnline why roses should return to the front of garden centre displays.
