Total volume sales up 3.6%, Garden Products sales up 11.7%, Growing Media sales up 87% and Veg 2 Gro sales static. That’s the year on year index numbers from The GTN Bestsellers charts for January. Another 11 months like that and we’ll all be happy.
January 2012 has not only beaten 2011 sales volumes, the GTN Bestsellers indexes are all the highest we’ve ever reported for a January.
Now we all know that January sales volumes aren’t going to make or break the year, but what a great re-assurance and sign of optimism that when the weather is good, our customers want to get gardening. If the sun continues to shine we could be in for a cracking good year.
With customers being prepared to venture out to garden centre’s this early in the season it’s really important to make sure your entrances and plant areas have plenty of colour on display, just like this eye catching display seen a Fresh@Burcot this week.
