If you’re Webbs you go out and open a Christmas Shop, and not just any Christmas Shop, a really good quality Christmas Shop in a quality shopping centre – Merry Hill in the West Midlands.
And what do you do if you want to take even more advantage of the Christmas opportunity?
If you’re Webbs you just get on and open another Christmas Shop – this time in the Westfield Shopping Centre in Derby!
The GTN Online team paid a visit to the Merry Hill Christmas shop this weekend to check out how the award winning garden centre team had used it’s years of Christmas retailing to its advantage on the new High Street. You can judge for yourselves by watching the video below, I bet all many of the other retailers in the shopping centre that have Christmas retail displays are sitting up and taking notice!
And then we crossed the Midlands to the Westfield Shopping Centre in Derby to catch up with Boyd Douglas-Davies, Webbs’ CEO, who was working with the team fitting out their second Christmas Shop venture.
Having only been given the keys on Tuesday 4th November they set themselves a 6 day turnaround to be open at 9:00am on Tuesday 11th November, which they achieved. Boyd told GTN Online “we really wanted to be trading in full swing at Derby before the Children-in-Need activity this Friday. The centre is bound to be busy and we will be the only Christmas Shop. And after setting up Merry Hill from scratch in 14 days we were confident we could meet the deadline. You can see how things progressed by watching the video below.
